Welcome to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Oklahoma City is the capital and largest city of the state of Oklahoma in the United States of America. It is the county seat of Oklahoma County. Population: 523,000. The city's name is sometimes abbreviated to 'OKC.' Non-residents often refer to Oklahoma City as 'Oak City,' but locals never use this name. Residents of outlying suburbs or rural areas often call Oklahoma City simply "The City." Oklahoma City is a large, diverse and growing city, and is the civic and commercial center of the state.
The state's largest city, it is an important livestock market, a wholesale, distribution, industrial, and financial center, and a farm trade and processing point. Oil is a major product; the city is situated in the middle of an oil field (opened 1928), with oil derricks even on the capitol grounds. The city has diversified light and heavy industries, and the nearby Tinker Air Force Base, a logistics center with one of the world's largest air depots, is also an important source of civilian employment.

If you have taken a better photo of Oklahoma City. Please email us a copy and if we like it, we might use it. Oklahoma City is a beautiful city offering job opportunities (Tinker AFB, Lucent Technologies, Xerox, Hertz and numerous medical opportunities). We have a wide variety of public and private school systems to choose from. We are also within minutes of Oklahoma University Health Science Center and other universities.
Oklahoma City has several community functions that include Ballet Oklahoma, Oklahoma City Philharmonic and many museums. In addition, there are the semi-pro Oklahoma City Blazers Hockey and Red Hawks Baseball. Community parks are available for a picnic or just a walk. There are many organized sports programs for children and adults including baseball, tennis, soccer, golf and football.

Of interest are the capitol, the state historical museum, the National Cowboy Hall of Fame and Western Heritage Center, the civic center buildings and monuments, a theater complex, a convention center, the state library, and a zoo.
Besides the skyscrapers that cluster in the city's central business district, one of the more prominent landmarks downtown is the Crystal Bridge at the Myriad Botanical Gardens, a large downtown urban park. Designed by I. M. Pei after the Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen, the Crystal Bridge is a tropical conservatory that contains foliage more akin to the Amazon River basin than the Great Plains of North America. The park has several amphitheaters where live theater and concerts can be seen and heard in the summer. There is also a lake in the middle of the park inhabited by large goldfish. Waterfalls and fountains add life-giving oxygen to the lake as well as an added attraction for visitors. The park is also home to the free Twilight Concert Series (summer) and the city's top festivals, including the annual Festival of the Arts, ranked the second best arts festival in the nation, (April), the annual Downtown Salute (a month-long festival in July complete with parades, free concert acts, and the three-day long Bricktown 4th of July Celebration and Fireworks), and Opening Night (December 31/January 1).
